Micro & U7-U8 Recreational League


Welcome to the Mahtomedi Soccer Association! We are happy and excited that you have chosen to play soccer. We want your soccer experience to be great! The following information should help you and your coach answer some of your questions.



Fall 2010 Soccer Schedule

It is a six week soccer season with the first game on September 11th, and the last game on October 16th.

Micros
Practice/Games 10:30-11:30 am at lower SW park.
(First 30 minutes is practice, last 30 minutes is game)

U7-U8 Boys
Practice Tuesday evenings from 6-7 pm at lower SW park.
First practice is September 7th.
Games - Saturday afternoons from 12-1 pm

U7-U8 Girls
Practice Wednesday evenings from 6-7 pm at lower SW park.
First practice is September 8th.
Games Saturday mornings 9-10 am





Micro Specific Information:

  • The first 30 minutes - teams practice individual skills.
  • The second 30 minutes - teams play games against other teams.
  • There are no practices outside of the game time.
  • The format is 3 v 3 (small-sided game) - no goal keeper.
  • Parents/guardians are expected to stay with their child(ren) during the practices/games - not drop them off at beginning and pick them up at end.

U7-U8 Specific Information:

  • At the U7-U8 level - the format is 6 vs 6 (full field game) - with goal keeper as player #6.
  • Practices will be scheduled by your team coaches.

 



Players - what to bring to practices/games (please put names on things):

  • Size 3 ball (MSA gives a new ball to first-time players)
  • Shin guards are required to play soccer
  • Water bottle

 



Weather:
The Micro level tries to follow the MSA soccer guidelines as closely as possible. If it is raining/snowing lightly or threatening rain, games WILL GO ON as scheduled! In the event of heavy rain or lightening, games will be called. Your coach will be notified. In any case if you are uncomfortable with the weather, please take your child and leave.



Player Guidelines:

  • Have fun!
  • Respect coaches, players, and parents
  • Play your best each week
  • Always wear your shin guards, bring a soccer ball and a water bottle
  • Cheer for your teammates


Parent Guidelines:

  • Have fun!
  • Respect coaches, players, and parents
  • Encourage good sportsmanship
  • Cheer positively for all the kids
  • Please be on time
  • Contact the Age-Level Coordinator with any question/ideas/comments


Coaches' Guidelines:

  • Have fun!
  • Focus on player skill development
  • Encourage good sportsmanship
